Lower Primary Monday Newsletter

March 15, 2010

Dear Lower Primary Parents,

Amazing to think that in spite of the cold and hazy weather, we managed to have the best two days for our Tai Tam Field Days! A big thanks goes to our LP Physical Education teachers, Mr. James Jenkins and Mr. Matt Lucas. I would also like to thank our Booster Club parents for their support of these field days and for providing water, oranges, and Torch, our school mascot!

Student Led Conferences

Our Student Led Conferences are this Thursday and Friday! Your children and our teachers have been working to prepare for this and are awaiting the opportunity to demonstrate to you the learning that has occurred. Please check your appointments and recognize that you will also be spending time at the two specials activities your child has selected (R2 through G2) or the specials your child participates in (R1) after your time in the classroom. This is an amazing experience to watch - your children at age 4, 5, 6 and 7 are able to show you what they have learned and the process of learning! In anticipation of these days, your child may be somewhat nervous and excited - positive remarks, recognition of their efforts and praise goes along way!

Scholastic Book Order

Our PFO, working with Scholastic Books, is providing you and your children with the opportunity to place book orders. Materials will be available this week, either before and/or at conferences. We thank our PFO organizers for arranging this for our Repulse Bay students. This gieves your child(ren) the opportunity to select books and support our school through the collection of points for our classroom libraries!

Parent Coffee on Twins

On Tuesday, March 30th, we are hosting a Lower Primary and Upper Primary Coffee on "Twins!" As we have many twins in both the LP and UP, we thought a panel discussion and a conversation in regards to raising twins and schooling would be interesting! As part of our panel, we will have Dr. Alicia Poon, Private Psychologist in Hong Kong, Mr. DJ Condon, Associate Head of School and parent of University aged twins, a HKIS school counselor, and two high school students who are twins. This parent coffee will occur in the Lower Primary Library Annex, 4th Floor and start at 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM.

Have a great week!

Warm regards,

Maya Nelson
Lower Primary Principal
